FAQ's

How do you sanitize a mattress?

We use the Hygienitech mattress and upholstery sanitizing solution – the Hygienitech solution has been in use for over 20 years and is available in 93 countries. It is the proven method for killing and removing environmental pollutants and debris that is deeply embedded in mattresses which can cause allergic reponses. Our system is a specially designed device that uses high intensity vibration, UV-C germicidal light and a powerful extraction device.

Why should I have my mattress sanitized?

Over time mattresses will begin to accumulate dead skin, dust, dust mites, oils, bacteria, odors and other contaminants. These can lead to allergic responses in some people causing or aggravating asthma, eczema, wheezing, coughing, runny or stuffy nose, irritated eyes and poor sleep.

My mattress is only a year old - Why should I bother?

Your bed is where you spend one-third of your life, and the overall health of your mattress, what you deposit into it, and what you breathe out of it does affect your day-to-day life. Dead skin cells, dust mites, dust mite feces, sweat, bacteria, oils, lotions, pollen, and pet dander all build up in your mattress. An average night of sleep can yield over 12,000,000 dead skin flakes. This is what dust mites thrive on, and the heat from your body creates a perfect environment for them to live.

How long does the service take?

A typical mattress service will take approximately 20-30 minutes.

Is this safe for children and animals?

Absolutely! As this is a dry, chemical-free process, there are no harsh odors left behind and there are no chemicals that will remain in or on the mattress after the process. We can clean children’s mattresses, cots or even pet beds.

How long after the treatment do I need to leave the bed?

As there are no chemicals and we do not use steam that can penetrate the mattress, there is no moisture and no drying time is needed. You can make the bed as soon as you like after the treatment.

How does it work?

Hygienitech mattress and upholstery cleaning and sanitizing system is a powerful and specially engineered portable extraction, cleaning & sanitizing device that eradicates dust mites and other harmful contaminants in mattresses and upholstered items. This is a completely dry, chemical free service with no heat or moisture and no toxins.

How often should I have my mattress sanitized?

A typical residential mattress should ideally be sanitized once every six months. Commercial mattresses should be sanitized more frequently, ideally every three months depending on the level of occupancy.

How can I tell what's in my mattress?

We perform a free 2 minute test which will show you what is in your mattress.

Do I need to remove the mattress from the bed?

No, our system is powerful enough to thoroughly sanitize the mattress without requiring it to be removed from the bed.

Why is me vacuuming the mattress not the same?

Vacuums or other devices that are not specifically designed to treat mattresses not only run the risk of damaging the mattress surface and they do not have the power or high intensity vibration required to extract the deeply embedded debris from your mattress. Additionally they have not been specifically designed with the powerful integrated commercial UV-C light which is proven to kill and eradicate bacteria, viruses, dust mites and other harmful allergy inducing debris.

Will sanitizing my bed help with my asthma or allergies?

By killing and removing the allergens that are triggering your allergy or asthma that may be present in your mattress or upholstery that you have direct contact with, this can help by lessening the amount of allergens that you may be exposed to.
